為尊貴的 貝諾法王的外甥，母親是貝諾法王的妹妹，父親為大瑜伽士夏剛祖古仁波切。索南嘉措仁波切是持戒精嚴的清淨比丘，曾任印度南卓林寺維那師，目前擔任蔣波羅曾仁波切（蔣波佛爺轉世）的親教師。
